frequently asked questions
when do i need to book
For newborn sessions especially the ideal time to have a session is before 2 weeks of age, so booking as early as after the 20 week scan is reccomended. Of course babies arrive at all different times so we can firm up dates sooner to the time and as long as you are booked in your session is confirmed.
After 2 weeks we can still get gorgeous images of your little one, they will be more awake than asleep usually at that stage. After the 2 weeks I recommend waiting until around 6 weeks, when your baby will be more interactive and giving little smiles. I photograph all stages so please don't feel like you have missed out on the newborn phase, we can always capture special memories at any time.
I offer seesions on weekdays and recommend booking at least a month in advance for a session.
where will the session take place
I am an on location photographer, and I am availble in Leitrim, Longford, Sligo, Roscommon, Cavan,
Newborn and baby sessions usually take place at home, this can be your own home or a friend or relatives house if you wish. I usually work in the best lit room in the house. usually a bedroom, or living room or both, and even some outdoor images if the weather allows.
For family sessions, I have a number of gorgeous locations we can use or we can do the session around your home, inside and outside.
are family welcome at sessions
Immediate family images are included in all my sessions, parents and sibling are all included.
Grandparents are also welcome to join too and I encourage that they do as are there too as these images are precious.
Pets are also welcome to join in too!
An extended family session is a longer session usually and I have specific packages that cover extended family portraits Get in touch for details about extended family sessions.
what do we wear for our session
What you wear to your shoot is important, and getting the wardrobe right is the key to timeless images.
Once a session is booked I give some detailed guidance on what to look for when putting a wardrobe together. We will start planning out your wardrobe. You can send me images and I can help advise you on what works best.
Its about getting a timeless look in your images that is true to your family.
For newborn sessions, I reccomend to stick to neutral colours, but for outdoor sessions muted, complimentary colours work well.
getting ready for a newborn session
My newborn sessions are designed to be as easy as possible for you so I don't ask you to do too much before the session, but being following the advice below will ensure we get the most out of your time together.
Give baby a warm bath just before I arrive, ideally followed by a feed just before I arrive. This should naturally keep baby awake and she should be ready for a snooze when we begin
Don't dress your baby simply put on a fresh nappy and wrap him in a warm blanket and have the room nice and warm too.
Whatever room we are using, gather up any stray items like toys and clothes and remove items from bedside lockers and window sills.
Have the rest of the family dressed and ready as we may call them in at different points during the session.
If you have other children, have your partner to keep them entertained in another room while we do the baby focused images, and when its time for family images they can all join in.
That is it really, just a little organisation means things run smoothly and we have more shooting time!
when will i receive my images and prints
Galleries are usually ready in 2-4 weeks time.
If you choose the full gallery, all images will be edited and artworked and delivered as a digital gallery in downloadable high resolution files.
I offer a beautiful range of hand crafted artworks and prints for your home. These prints are the highest quality, and archival grade which means they stand the test of time and become heirlooms for future generations to cherish.
If you are selecting specific images, the full editing will begin once you have selected your images, please allow up to 1 week for your finalised images to be delivered.
Please allow up to 6 weeks from date of order for prints to be delivered.
how do I pay for my session
A session fee of 100 euros reserves your place. I will organise an online invoice for you for the deposit and at a later date for the balance, which is due 2 days before the session begins. Due to the nature of my work, I can only reserve spaces with a deposit.
I can also organise an installment plan should you wish to avail of one.
